The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 464 was formed in March 1989. On the local level, VVA #464 has established itself as a leader in the veteran community with a variety of activities that support the objectives of our chapter: service, fellowship, pride and knowledge.
Sunday, February 23, 1998 Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 464 adopted the Annual Medical Mission to Vietnam Program and extended the Vietnam98 Challenge to all veterans and supporters..
Our chapter participates annually in July 4 parade in Redwood City and Veteran Day parade in San Jose as well as the San Carlos Home Town Days Parade. VVA #464 has a closet of food that has been donated from various chapter members, to be distributed to a needy Vietnam Veteran and family. This chapter meets monthly, the first Sunday of each month, with patients in the (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) PTSD clinic at the VA Hospital in Menlo Park/Palo Alto and provides them with pizza and fellowship. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are provided to needy Veterans and their families. Usually these food baskets contain enough food to last a family of 3 or 4 for one week.
Another important program that we participate in is the "Adopt A Highway" Program and are responsible for beautifying a 2 mile north-bound stretch of highway 280 that fronts onto the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno 4 - 6 times a year. The chapter also helps in placing 155,000 flags at the gravesites of the Golden Gate ational Cemetery for Memorial Day
