      • They're back!  Trip was  a hugh success.  Our heart filled thanks to Dr. Lehnert and his Medical Team for generously and unselfishly volunteering their time and expertise.  Special people, caring enough to make a difference.  Thank you Doctors.

      • Dr. Lehnert reports:

"Back from a long two weeks in Danang, Vietnam.  The weather was hot, the air was not conditioned.  The hospital were our work focused ran a series of radio ads informing the public that the American Foot and Ankle Specialists were coming.  We had about three full days of clinic and saw approximately 50 patients.  Ten of those patients were operated on during the first two weeks.

Presenting problems ranged from residual clubfoot to paralytic and spastic  deformities.  Procedures included Achilles tendon lengthening, tendon transfers, clubfoot reconstruction and repair of old injuries.  Surprisingly  no Vietnam War era injuries were treated.

The mission, though not over until 5/22/98 was a success.  We developed an  excellent relationship with the Vietnamese doctors and even learned from their experience.  They have invited us back next year.  I am working on trying to arrange an educational preceptorship for one of the Vietnamese doctors our team worked with.

I would like to thank all of the individuals and companies that supported  this mission to help those in need.  Your donation, no matter how small or  large, was appreciated by the team and by the patients who were helped."
