Transitional
Housing
.
Background -
Mission Statement
To provide the
facilities, program and respect to individuals and families that will nurture
and support the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
The unique 2-year program is envisioned as a bridge from homelessness to
employment and/or independent living.
EEE acquired 19.6
acres of undeveloped land through the McKinney Act in 1990 on a long-term
lease. Construction began in the summer of 1992 and the first 4 residents
were housed in March 1993.
Since
then EEE has continued to grow and currently serves 22 individual homeless
and 2 families. During the coming fiscal year it is anticipated the on-site
population will more than double with the addition of a 3 building complex
to handle disabled homeless veterans, along with 3 additional duplexes
to serve six more homeless families. If all goes as anticipated by year’s
end there would be 12 buildings on site to house residents. Above is the
communal garden which the residents have started.
