Mark Williams says:
I was 15 when Movin' With Nancy first aired on NBC. I remember that
I volunteered to baby sit for my sister that night as at the time we did
not yet have color TV and I wanted to see it in color. That is time
warp for you. I loved the video style of the special. Nancy
was way ahead of her time. Her sixties fashions were really great.
Some of my favorite moments were the Lee Hazlewood songs as they were new
hits at the time and so beautifully photographed. And, of course,
who else but Nancy could actually fly away in a hot air balloon while singing
"Up, Up, and Away"! |
Danny Bohin says:
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Movin' With Nancy has
to be a huge poster I once had advertising the special. It was made
by RC Cola Company as was originally used on the back of their trucks to
promote the show. My parents owned a drug store at the time and since
they dealt with the RC Cola distributorship, they were kind enough to send
me one. I remember gluing myself in front of the TV and not
wanting to blink because I might miss something. Those boots on the
pavement, the balloon, the roller coaster ride, and the "nifty" commercials
all add up to one fast moving, slick produced program. It earned
Nancy the Hollywood Star of Tomorrow Award and I can't wait to be Movin'
With Nancy...again!!

Movin' Memories
fans share their memories . . . . .
There is excitement in the
air! Movin' With Nancy is FINALLY out on video and DVD for all to
enjoy!! We asked some of our fan club members to share their memories
of seeing Movin' With Nancy for the first time.
Thanks to all who participated!
Suzanne Parvey says:
I remember seeing Movin' With Nancy and enjoying all the many costume changes
and songs. Of course, Nancy looked lovely and I so enjoyed the appearances
of Uncle Dean, Sammy, and of course her daddy Frank. I loved all
the segments with Lee Hazlewood and I think they made some wonderful music
together. I loved "Jackson" and "Some Velvet Morning". I still
have memories of them both on the beach riding horses for "Some Velvet
Morning". As for her segment with Frank I remember it very well.
She sang "Wait Till You See Him" to pictures of Frank and then I remember
there being photos shown of Nancy and her dad together. I loved the
recording session when Frank sang "Younger Than Springtime" and waved his
tie at Nancy, which was so cute! She waved at him with such love.
I'll never forget it. He, in turn, just by his face gestures showed
his equal love for her. Very special moment. I thought the
bit with Uncle Dean was cute with the magic wand and Sammy danced, as I
recall, photographing Nancy. I have the Movin' With Nancy CD and
especially love "Friday's Child" and "See The Little Children".
Kristian Grimeland
says: The first time I saw Movin' With Nancy was in 1968. It
then aired on Norwegian TV. We had not a TV at home, so I and my
brother and two friends went to a neighbour who had a TV and watched the
show there. I had just months before become aware of Nancy.
I had heard "Boots" and "Things" with Nancy and Dean Martin, which was
released as a single in Norway, and topped the charts here at that time.
I remember especially seeing Nancy and Dean performing "Things" and that
was a highlight for me. I liked the record and also their performance
very much. Besides that, I recollect especially Nancy performing
"Friday's Child". I loved the song very much and I recollect, from
that time especially, Nancy with short hair singing the song. One
moment in the show which is burned into my mind is Nancy coming into the
studio while her dad was performing "Younger Than Springtime". That
was a very charming moment for me! Other than that, what I remember
most was the start of the show with Nancy coming out in her boots and starting
up her Thunderbird. After seeing the show the first time, I always
longed to see it again. It was very special to me.
Devon Hall says:
"Movin"...what delicious memories this brings back. While some of
the 'ole synapses are hitting with a bit less efficiency than they were
back in 1967, my memories of Movin' are still strong. To be perfectly
honest, I thought (and still do) that Ms. Sinatra was nothing less than
a total goddess - talented in song and dance, singing songs that reached
into where I was at, and pouring her heart and soul out to her fans.
She was hard and soft, a very successful business woman who was at the
same time (and still is) totally feminine. She was nothing short
of spectacularly beautiful. Her photo spread in "Playboy" a couple
years ago did nothing to dissuade me from my opinion of her physical beauty.
However, over the years, it has been her music - played until the old vinyl
was no longer useable. Yes, it has been her music that has kept her
fresh in my mind and heart...and in the minds and hearts of her many, many
devoted fans. And now, we learn that added to that outstanding collection
of songs, Movin' will once again be available with the "real life" type
of experience that comes from video. Typically, these redone, re-mastered
items are often better quality then the original - technology having advanced
as it has. This opportunity is something more moving to all of us
that still hold Ms. Sinatra so dear in our hearts and in our memories of
times gone by...sometimes of better days, always of times, year after year,
of joy...As an old and dedicated fan, I would appreciate being able to
say to Ms. Sinatra just how special she is still today, and just how very
deeply grateful I am that she will be allowing us to purchase this memorable
of events...Movin'. Thank you, dear lady, thank you.

"I remember it was 1967.
I got a postcard from the fan club and it had the release date of the Movin'
With Nancy LP and also when it was going to be on TV. It was shown
on Monday-I think it was December 11. I got the LP the day before.
I remember that I recorded some dialogue, the song "Wait Till You See Him"
and a song from the RC Cola Commercial"

Jodi Clark says:
These are impressions that have stayed with me for more than 30 years.
I guess you could call them visual impressions because I've listened to
the Movin' music for many, many years now. I can remember being so
excited that Movin' was going to be on TV. I had purchased Movin'
With Nancy LP and can remember thinking how "cool" she looked on the cover.
The black background and the black outfit made Nancy's blondness stand
out so well. Very striking! To this day, it is my favorite
LP cover. Movin' was also advertised in the TV Guide and I thought
that Nancy's crocheted dress was tops. Three songs stick out in my
mind from back then. The first being "Friday's Child" - I've always
loved that song but the fact that Nancy had such short hair was what really
stood out for me. I can remember not quite knowing what to think
of it. The next song was "Sugar Town" - I loved how Nancy floated
down in the balloon and then started singing the song. The dancing
sequence - "What'd I Say" - with Sammy was the last part of the special
that made a huge impression on me. I will never forget it.
I loved how she was posing for photographs before the music started.
I will never forget the photo of Nancy at the end of that sequence. Thanks,
Nancy, for giving all of your fans the opportunity to relive all of our
wonderful memories and to now fully enjoy your wonderfully accomplished
television special.
