The Chinese Christian
Schools Marching Units are proud to be a part of the 2000 Alameda County
Veterans Day Parade. Led by the Banner Unit, the CCS marching units are
comprised of the Color Guard, the Men’s Drill Team, the Championship Drum
and Bell Corps, and the Flag Corps. Mr. Alan chew directs the Marching
Units.
The Color Guard Unit was
recognized as the 1992 and 1994 Parade Season Champions by the Northern
California Parade Sponsors Association.
The Men’s Drill Team has
received numerous awards for its crowd-pleasing performances, including
a first place showing at the 2000 Watsonville 4th of July Parade.
The heart of the CCS Marching
Units is the Championship Drum and Bell Corps. Ranked first
for 1994,’95 and ’96 parade seasons, the Drum Corps has accumulated an
impressive and unbroken string of 1st place awards during the past
five years. The Drum and Bell corps were featured in the nationally
televised 1999 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade. On July 4th,
the Drum and Bell Corps took first place in two parades on the same day.
The Flag Corps provides visual
expression for the music of the Drum and Bell Corps and has won numerous
awards. The Flag Corps placed second among flag teams in the 1997
NCPSA Parade season. They took 2nd place in the 2000 Watsonville
Parade.

11th Airborne Color
Guard Detail
The 11th Airborne
Division was activated in February 1943, served with distinction in both
the Pacific and European Theaters during war and peace, and was deactivated
in July 1958.
During WWII it was general
Douglas Macarthur’s secret weapon. They fought their way from the
jungles of New guinea to the Philippine Islands. The 11th Airborne
is credited for liberating 2,000 prisoners of war from the Los Baños
POW camp in a daring parachute raid without suffering any casualties.
The 11th Airborne Division was the first American unit to enter Tokyo,
Japan, spearheading the surrender of the Imperial Japanese government.

The Society of 40&8
is an Independent Fraternal Organization of Veterans organized in 1920
as the Honorary Society of the American Legion. It is comprised of Legionnaires
which served during WWI to the present. The Locomotive is the symbol of
the 40&8, which was used to pull boxcars called Voitures had the capability
of carrying either 40 men or 8 horses, thus becoming the trademark of the
Society. (The Chef de Gare is Robert A. Cacy.)
